Philippians Chapter 1

Phi 1:1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus, that are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons.
Phi 1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Phi 1:3 I thank my God on every remembrance of you,
Phi 1:4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
Phi 1:5 for your contribution for the gospel from the first day till now,
Phi 1:6 having confidence in this very thing, that he that began a good work in you will accomplish it till the day of Christ Jesus,
Phi 1:7 as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, that all of you are both in my bonds and in my defense and confirmation of the gospel, partakers of my grace.
Phi 1:8 For God is my witness, how I long after you all in the bowels of Christ Jesus.
Phi 1:9 And I pray for this, that your love may abound yet more and more in all knowledge and understanding,
Phi 1:10 that you prove the things that are excellent, that you may be pure and without offense to the day of Christ,
Phi 1:11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness, which is through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Phi 1:12 But I wish you to know, brethren, that what has happened to me has turned out rather to the furtherance of the gospel,
Phi 1:13 so that my bonds have become manifest in Christ in the whole of the pretorium, and in all other places,
Phi 1:14 and the greater number of the brethren in the Lord, having confidence in my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word without fear.
Phi 1:15 Some both because of envy and strife, some also because of good will, preach Christ:
Phi 1:16 the one part from love, knowing that I am appointed to the defense of the gospel,
Phi 1:17 the other from contention announce Christ not sincerely, thinking to awake affliction to my bonds.
Phi 1:18 What then? Yet in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is announced, and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice;
Phi 1:19 for I know that this will turn out to me for salvation through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Phi 1:20 according to my earnest expectations and hope that in nothing shall I be ashamed, but in all boldness, as at all times, even now Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether through life or through death.
Phi 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Phi 1:22 But if to live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my work, and what I shall choose I know not.
Phi 1:23 But I am in a strait between two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ; for this is far better:
Phi 1:24 yet to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
Phi 1:25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your advancement, and the joy of your faith,
Phi 1:26 that your rejoicing may be abundant in Christ Jesus, in me, through my coming again to you.
Phi 1:27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you or be absent I shall hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faith of the gospel,
Phi 1:28 and in nothing terrified by the adversaries, which is to them an evident token of perdition, but of your salvation, and this from God;
Phi 1:29 for to you has been graciously given in behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him,
Phi 1:30 having the same contest which you saw in me and now hear to be in me.
