1 Timothy Chapter 1

1Ti 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to a command of God our Savior and Christ Jesus our Hope,
1Ti 1:2 to Timothy, a true child in faith: grace, mercy, peace, from God our Father, and Jesus Christ our Lord.
1Ti 1:3 As I exhorted you to continue in Ephesus, when I was journeying into Macedonia, that you might charge certain ones not to teach a different doctrine,
1Ti 1:4 nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies; which, indeed, occasion disputes rather than God's dispensation, which is in faith, so do I now.
1Ti 1:5 But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and of faith unfeigned;
1Ti 1:6 which some having missed turned aside to vain talk;
1Ti 1:7 wishing to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they confidently affirm.
1Ti 1:8 But we know that the law is good, if one use it lawfully;
1Ti 1:9 knowing this, that law is not enacted for a righteous man, but for lawless and unruly ones, for ungodly and sinful, for unholy and profane, for patricides, and matricides, for man-slayers,
1Ti 1:10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for man-stealers, for liars, for false swearers; and whatever else is contrary to healthful teaching;
1Ti 1:11 according to the Gospel of the glory of the Blessed God, with which I was entrusted.
1Ti 1:12 I have thanks for Him Who empowered me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because He accounted me faithful, putting me into His service,
1Ti 1:13 though formerly I was a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious; but I obtained mercy, because I, being ignorant, did it in unbelief;
1Ti 1:14 and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1Ti 1:15 Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief;
1Ti 1:16 but for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me, as chief, Christ Jesus might show forth all His longsuffering for an example to those about to believe on Him unto eternal life.
1Ti 1:17 Now to the King of the ages, incorruptible, invisible, only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
1Ti 1:18 This charge I commit to you, child Timothy, according to the prophecies going before in respect to you, that you may war with these the noble warfare;
1Ti 1:19 holding faith, and a good conscience, which some having thrust from them made shipwreck concerning the faith;
1Ti 1:20 of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered up to Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.
